Are you looking for a Chef role with a difference where you can leave the kitchen behind and work in a galley onboard a vessel in Doubtful Sound? We are looking for a passionate foodie wanting to develop their skills and join our Doubtful Sound Overnight Crew.

As the sole chef onboard, each day you will have up to 72 customers who you will be preparing and serving exceptional buffet dinner and breakfast meals for.  This means that you need to be a great all-rounder creating everything from bread to desserts! As the only chef on the vessel during your week on you would be in charge of stocktakes as well as ordering and storing all food.

This is a demanding role! As one of 10 people in the crew it is constantly go go go and everyone in the team relies on each other for encouragement and support. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for someone who:

  • Has a passion for quality food and food safety;
  • Has high attention to detail and can successfully stocktake and order sufficient food to a high standard;
  • Has the ability to work in a small galley environment;
  • Possessed a positive, can do attitude;
  • Is a personable team player who can assist with team training;
  • Has maritime experience – although this is not mandatory;
  • Is New Zealand proud and would thrive in a remote national park environment.

As the Chef on the overnight vessel you are lucky enough to be on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster which provides you a unique opportunity to work and play hard in this beautiful part of Southern New Zealand.
