Kitchen Hand Required

Smiths Craft Beer House is seeking an Commi chef/kitchen hand to join our team. The Bar/Restaurant is located in the heart of the Queenstown having established itself a fantastic name in regards to beer food and personalized service.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Head Chef and lead the team in the absence of the Head Chef. You’re a leader, trainer and mentor to all team members. A Sous Chef is a developmental role with the aim to expand on already strong cookery skills, as well as management skills, so as to one day run the kitchen. By supporting the Head Chef your purpose is to absorb skills needed to effectively lead a small team , understand menu costings and development and run a kitchen efficiently and innovatively.

Key Requirements of the role include:

  • At least 2 years experience in a similar role,.
  • Exceptional culinary skills with a passion for pushing the boundaries
  • Proven communication skills
  • Ability to empower team by passing on culinary knowledge and experience
  • Willingness to be hands-on during key service times – weekends and evenings included
  • Ability to follow and execute Food Safety plan and follow company procedures
  • High personal standards passed on to entire kitchen team
